A resident in Chackmore complained about the Round Table Float music tonight. Read his letter here. I realise that there is no way we are ever going to please all the people all the time and we do get the occasional moan but then a donation anyway - but this is a first. There are 25 different tracks of music on our player ranging from God rest ye merry gentlemen to Merry Xmas by Slade, enough to cover most tastes but the chances of every persons favourite tune or style being played when we arrive at their door is slim. On the whole most people are happy with what we do and in my personal opinion the complainants notion that we should go door to door singing carols is just plain daft. There are over 6,000 housholds in our area and we probably manage to get to half of them in the time we have. If we had to sing carols at 3000 doors we would probably have to start in July and with him complaining personally to me on the night that “Its not even Christmas yet” I’m sure he would be even less pleased with the arrival of carol singers in the middle of summer!
